Horizon Europe

Horizon Europe, the 9th Framework Program of the European Union, aims to support science and innovation activities with a budget of 95.5 billion Euros between 2021-2027.

The calls for 2021 in clusters, areas and missions under Horizon Europe components have been opened as of June 24, 2021. Call announcements can be accessed through the European Commission's Funding and Tender Portal by using the search engine and relevant filters on the call page.

 

What is Horizon Europe?

The objectives of the Horizon Europe Program;

To strengthen the European Union scientifically and technologically,

Raising Europe's innovation capacity, competitiveness and employment, meeting society's priorities,

To sustain the socio-economic models and values of Europe.

 

The structure of the Horizon Europe Program is gathered under 3 components similar to the structure of the Horizon 2020 Program. These 3 components are Scientific Excellence, Global Challenges and Industrial Competitiveness, and Innovative Europe. The sub-programs are planned to be compatible and complementary with each other and with other Union Programs. The concepts of open science and open innovation will be applied to the whole Program.

The structure of the Horizon Europe Program is presented below.

Within the scope of the Horizon Europe Program, missions have been created by the European Commission in order to better explain the EU Framework Programs to the society and to evaluate them within more measurable objectives. The missions aim to provide solutions to some of the challenges we face with a specific budget and within a defined timeframe. Below are the 5 missions identified by the Commission:
