Development Banks

1- Islamic Development Bank

 

The IDB Group supports projects and businesses that benefit the vast majority and create beneficiaries that can support and sustain local economies. These approaches underpin the Group's priorities. The Group also offers long-term sovereign lending in the public sector to support member countries' development plans.

Some of the areas of focus of the Islamic Development Bank Group include (but are not limited to)

2- European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

 

The EBRD supports local commercial banks providing loans to SMEs and municipalities. Instruments that may be available include lines of credit, bank-to-bank loans, reserve credit facilities and equity investments in local banks. MSMEs should contact local banks directly to access finance and check local requirements and investment limits. These banks in the EBRD region provide loans to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.  In addition, equity contributions of around 35% are usually required for existing or new businesses.

Businesses wishing to obtain loans through local banks must provide

Solid business plans for starting or expanding a company.

Solid management with a proven track record.

Products that can compete in the market.

Information on owners/partners.

Financial history.

Collateral in the form of guarantees, mortgages, etc.

The funds provided must be used strictly in accordance with the purposes set out in the original business plan.

In accordance with the EBRD's mandate, the banks ensure that all proposals show due respect for environmental issues.

Funding cannot be provided to majority state-owned companies or for projects with state guarantees.

3- Japan Cooperation Agency

 

Supported projects:

 

Energy Saving Project
Project Duration: 2000-2005 (5 years)
Project Objective: To improve the energy conservation training programs being carried out by the Electrical Power Resources Survey Administration (EIE) and the National Energy Conservation Center (NEC) with both hardware and technical expert support through the model training units established; to strengthen the current position of EIE in energy conservation study programs; to increase energy efficiency and rational use of energy in the whole country through the development of energy conservation policies and awareness raising activities.

Improvement of Maritime Education Project
Project Duration: 2000-2005 (5 Years)
Project Objective: Establishment of a training system and Maritime Security Training Center at Istanbul Technical University in order to train trained seafarers, and to bring seafarers together with international standards by creating a renewed and up-to-date training system.

Establishment of Industrial Automation Technologies Departments in Anatolian Technical High Schools

Project Duration: 2001-2006 (5 years)
Project Objective: Establishing a new education system in Izmir and Konya Anatolian Technical High Schools as a dissemination model in order to train intermediate-level technicians to meet the needs of the industry using automation technology.

Geological Remote Sensing Project

Project Duration: 2002-2006 (4 years)
Project Objective: Sub-project A: Exploration of Mineral Resources; MTA-Remote Sensing Center (RDC) to use advanced remote sensing techniques such as ASTER and PALSAR in mineral exploration studies and to share the knowledge and experience obtained with other relevant institutions and neighboring countries within the framework of training programs; Sub-project B: Natural Disaster and Environmental Analysis; Remote Sensing Center (UAM) The use of advanced remote sensing techniques such as ASTER and PALSAR in the identification of natural disasters and environmental analysis and sharing the knowledge and experience obtained with other relevant institutions and neighboring countries within the framework of training programs.

Development of Sustainable Fry Techniques for Black Sea Turbot Project

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Trabzon Fisheries Central Research Institute carried out the "Project for the Development of Fish Farming in the Black Sea" between April 1997 and October 2004. Turkey | In the project where turbot was produced for the first time in Turkey, some of the fry were branded within the scope of the research and released into the Black Sea. The new project, which will last approximately 26 months, aims to ensure sustainable production of turbot. Some of the fry to be produced in the project will be used in breeding trials in the facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in Trabzon and Beymelek, while some will be distributed to breeders for trial purposes.


Disaster Management Training Project

Project Duration: 2003-2005 (2 years)
Project Objective: In this project, which is an extension of the "Disaster Precautions/Disaster Recovery" training program organized for Turkey between 2000-2003 in the aftermath of the 1999 earthquakes, Japan's knowledge and experience in the field of disaster management will be transferred to Turkey to reduce the devastating effects of disasters.

4- Japan Development Bank

Overseas investment loans support Japanese foreign direct investment. Loans can be granted to Japanese companies (investors), overseas Japanese subsidiaries (including joint ventures), and foreign governments or financial institutions that have an equity participation or provide loans to such overseas subsidiaries.
